POSTPARTUM INFORMATION - PELVIC FLOOR MUSCLES

Your pelvic floor muscles support your bladder and uterus, and as you have had pressure on these areas for the past nine months and this area has been stretched during childbirth, it is imperative that you continue to strengthen and tone these muscles to help gain control of them and to avoid any incontinence that may become present.

Check with your physiotherapist or healthcare professional on suitable pelvic floor excercises for strengthening and toning your pelvic floor muscles. You may also find that you don’t feel the strengthening in early days after the birth of your newborn, but the feeling will return gradually.
