BABY DEVELOPMENT - MILESTONES
0 TO 3 MONTHS
By the end of this period, your baby may be able to:
• Lift head 45 degrees during tummy time
• Focus on your face
• Focus on a moving object held up to 20cms in front of his/her face
• Respond to sounds and voices
• Smile
• Grasp an object for a short time, play with hands
• Make cooing sounds
• Have head control
3 TO 6 MONTHS
By the end of this period, your baby may be able to:
• Hold head steady and keep head level with body when pulled to sitting position
• Lift head 90 degrees during tummy time
• Laugh aloud
• Reach for a toy and pass from one hand to the other hand
• Roll over
• Play with feet
6 TO 9 MONTHS
By the end of this period, your baby may be able to:
• Sit without support and get into sitting position from tummy
• Put weight on legs when held or holding onto something
• Babble ‘words’
• Eat finger foods
• Crawl
9 TO 12 MONTHS
By the end of this period, your baby may be able to:
• Stand alone
• Say mama and dada
• Wave with hand
• ‘Cruise’ around the furniture (walk, holding onto furniture), or walk unaided
